Kowhai Seed collecting
We collected kowhai seeds and baby kowhai trees from beside our rock by our school gate. We will use the plants as gifts, and investigate how to germinate the seeds as the kowhai seed is hard to grow. We will plan to plant the kowhai trees in our te roto (swamp) in autumn.

Our bug hotel was beside the library but it wasn’t working well because people kept pulling the sticks out. We decided it might be better in te roto (swamp). We found a great site beside some trees and filled the bug hotel with fresh sticks and dead leaves. Caterpillars and spiders are moving in already!
