On the Thursday 16th November, we were able to hold our first haangi for a long period of time. We'd like to acknowledge the help of Matua Hemi (Ahitahi Iwi Representative) and his great team BJ, Alan and P.

We are so lucky to have Deidre! April 30th marked her 25th Year here at Avon and she's not going anywhere!

Deidre is an integral part of our team and she is like the 'aunty' who knows everything and and everyone!

In Term 2 a highlight was visiting our marae, Whakaahurangi on the 4th May!

We were able to learn about our marae and our whānau house group names. We learnt the legend of Ruaputahanga, Turongo and Whatihua, learnt new waiata and how important our marae is to our place in Whakaahurangi.

Our first group of ākonga receiving their Blazing Stars certificates for earning 10 Stars. We enjoy a special morning tea together!
