During term 1 all of our school explored and learnt about the importance of the awa and our moana. We are exploring our pepeha through this year and want our tamariki to have a strong connection to their place.
We had sessions with Gwenda, through Enviroschools to understand the health of our awa and to learn about what invertibrates live there. We are so lucky to have the Patea Awa in our backyard and only a short walk away!

In late February we had Roadsafe Taranaki provide bike safety for all of our tamariki.
We are fortunate to have around 20 of our own bikes at school that the tamariki access during playtimes and lunchtimes and we want them to be safe not only at school but around town as well.

As we know the statistics for water safety in New Zealand aren't the best so we believe it is imperative that our tamariki engage with Beach Safety every two years.
This year due to our class sizes we went across two sessions. Our juniors went on a day that was beautiful but our seniors the weather was a bit windy but they still got to experience the water!
